Riding stables

At Efford Down Stables our trekking is all off road on our 100 acre farm including “Efford down”. With fantastic views along the coastline, the town and surrounding countryside, our experienced friendly escorts guide you on an enjoyable hack amidst some of Cornwalls most stunning scenery. There is no better way of getting out there and enjoying it than on horseback.

Bookings

The rides are suitable for adults and children, novice and experienced, even those that have never ridden before.

Open Monday to Friday (plus weekends during school holidays). Seasonally from Easter until October (allowing the horses and ponies a long winters rest).

Our horses

We have a selection of fit and well cared for horses and ponies from a small Shetland at 10hh to a shire cross at 16.2hh, so we aim to suit most people.

Efford Down Stables is owned and run by Robert Heard established in 1976 by his father. It is licensed by North Cornwall District Council and inspected annually, a priority is for our clients safety, and we have an excellent safety record.

Livery

Livery is avaliable at Efford Down Stables providing large airy stables with pleanty of natural light in the barn and ample grazing. Efford Down provides a safe and secure environment for your horse and tack with the owner, Robert, living onsite.

All the fields are well fenced and have  water troughs. There is good hacking in the area with three means of access to the farm. The entrance lane onto Vicarage road, from Efford down onto church path with easy access to Summerleze beach or from the fields at Upton. DIY livery and part livery by arrangement is avaliable at competeative prices - please enquire.
